New Sprites!

We're happy to finally reveal Mycorrhiza's new sprites! Say hello to May, Sabrina and Fredrick (from left to right)! Just like we mentioned in our last devlog, the sprites were usually the biggest pet peeve people mentioned in their feedback. The ones we originally had were from Tokudaya’s website, who offer free to use sprites. While they are great by themselves, they didn’t quite fit Mycorrhiza. I edited them to match the manga aesthetic which, as you might know, ended up looking less than ideal. I was originally concentrating more on CGs but it seems like having the right sprites is way more important than I had first thought!

Fortunately our CG artist BlackWing Bin Lan agreed to create custom sprites for the game, so here we are. Alright, without further ado: Meet the cast!

May

She’s the first person you met in the act 1 demo. A timid but kind and helpful girl. Though it seems like she has a tendency to lead you towards trouble and then disappear.

Fredrick

A biologist that sometimes gets too absorbed in his research. He usually has a laid back appearance but tends to get obsessive whenever he finds a new hobby. He and Sabrina go way back.

Sabrina

Sabrina is an artist who specializes in landscape paintings. Her focus on aesthetics extends to her outer appearance, as she likes keeping up with new fashion trends. She and Fredrick are great friends. Sometimes their personalities crash, but they can usually reconcile quickly. Usually.

Before I leave you, there’s one thing regarding characters I should make you aware of with the second door being opened and the second demo coming up: These characters won’t be confined to the first door! It would be a bit sad if they had such short appearances. You’ll soon see for yourself what that means.
